About

Welcome

web |web| noun, figurative - a complex system of interconnected elements, esp. one perceived as a trap or danger…

This website aims to bring together several interrelated and globally applicable themes. Each broadly falls under the following categories: counterinsurgency/insurgency 2.0; ‘democracy’/polyarchy promotion and political warfare; the national security apparatuses of Western powers (ie. ’3D’/whole-of-government’ policies); ‘humanitarian imperialism’ and the ‘Responsibility to Protect’ (R2P); information warfare/psyops/public relations; the transnational corporation; and elite networks.

As you might guess, this is the muck I rake through most of the time. Eventually, you will notice more Canadian content than you are probably used to here. Canada is ‘joined-up’ with the U.S. on many levels (economically, culturally, militarily, etc.). I hope that the emphasis on the enmeshed nature of Canadian-U.S. foreign policy and global interests will help lead to stronger links between critical journalists and scholars across the 49th parallel and beyond.

As the website begins to run more optimally, each theme will have a corresponding page, which will provide related background resources and original research/analysis. There will also be a section where declassified documents of note are housed – that is, mainly government documents that have been obtained via Canadian Access to Information and Privacy Act request or U.S. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The front page is where the regular monitoring of events will appear. Please feel free to send articles/ideas/leads/feedback/dead links (not to mention donations, see Paypal button on the bottom right hand corner) to me.
